Dr Nathaniel Van Maanen

OSTEOPATH | B.AppSc/B.HSc, FAFS

Career journey

Nathaniel graduated from RMIT University of Melbourne in 2018 with a Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy).

Over the past eight years, he has worked alongside practitioners in Melbourne who utilise a unique movement-based approach to osteopathy, inspired by further training through the US-based Gray Institute. Motivated by this philosophy, Nat completed  additional study to become a Fellow of Applied Functional Science (FAFS), bringing this integrated approach to the team at Form Osteopathy.

Nat’s treatment approach

Nat combines hands-on treatment with functional movement principles to create highly individualised treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals, lifestyle and presentation.

He has a particular interest in working with older patients with complex health presentations, and combat athletes, from amateurs through to professionals. Nat enjoys the challenge these patients present and values the detailed, considered approach required to help them achieve meaningful and lasting progress.

Nat offers extended consultation times, allowing space to take a more holistic approach to care. Alongside treatment, he places strong emphasis on lifestyle factors, nutrition, movement and behavioural change to support long-term outcomes.
