Career journey
Timothy Morris is an AHPRA registered practitioner and completed his Bachelor of Applied Science and a Masters of Osteopathy at RMIT University in Melbourne.
Tim’s spent his graduate year working at a busy osteopathy clinic in Townsville. After this time, he moved to the Gold Coast and worked as an associate at Spine + Body for several years. He also worked at various allied health clinics in Brisbane and northern NSW, and in aged care, growing his knowledge.
From this point, Tim started what is now known as Form Osteopathy. The goal of Form Osteopathy is to deliver osteopathy services that represent his beliefs in healthcare. This journey culminated in Tim taking that next step and establishing Form Osteopathy at its current location at 91 Upton Street, Bundall.
Tim has experience working with Olympic level athletes in the field of athletics, swimming and surfing. He has also supported Queensland Basketball during their National Championships campaigns.
Tim’s treatment approach
Tim is an experienced hands-on practitioner, combining soft tissue massage techniques, joint manipulation, stretching and dry needling to develop tailored treatments for his clients. Tim takes a holistic view of osteopathy – combining manual therapies, patient education and exercise prescription to restore his patients to pain-free movement. He places significant value on explaining the nature of pain and empowers his patients to make lifestyle changes that will assist with recovery.
Tim enjoys treating all presentations of musculoskeletal injury and has a special interest in running injuries, training-related injuries (i.e. gym), headaches and vertigo. He has worked with individuals of all ages and injury presentations.
Tim has completed further training in soft-tissue injury rehabilitation (e.g. hamstring strain), lower limb tendinopathy management, dry needling, respiratory assessment, pain science, vestibular system assessment and treatment (vertigo), clinical pilates, occupation therapy and advanced joint mobilisation technique.
Tim’s treatment philosophy
Tim is very focused on listening to his clients’ needs and goals, and understands that everybody is different, with different lifestyles and personal preferences.
For example, some clients want to understand the mechanisms of their condition; for others they want peace of mind from a professional that their pain isn’t an indication of something more sinister. Some clients want active solutions outside of treatment to help the healing process, and others simply prefer more treatment sessions even though they know therapeutic exercises would speed up their recovery.
There are a range of ways that clients want to engage with osteopathy and understanding each clients’ unique needs is an essential part of Tim’s approach.
Tim also places much importance on communication with the other professionals caring for his clients. Knowing when to refer a client for imaging, to communicate with their GP, to discuss exercise protocol with their PT or refer to a specialist is an essential part in caring for his clients’ overall wellbeing.
If a client has a strong exercise background, Tim is adept in modifying training programs to assist in recovery – whether this be specific exercise modifications, regression or progression exercises to return the client to full mobility. Likewise, Tim guides his clients with no exercise experience through the rehabilitation process to ensure they feel comfortable and know what they are doing.
Personal
Tim grew up playing basketball, AFL and was a keen runner. During his participation in these sports, he encountered a few injuries that took time to resolve.
At that time, Tim was under the care of an osteopath who treated his condition. Along with his love of health sciences during high school, these formative moments compelled him to pursue a career in osteopathy.
Outside of osteopathy, Tim strives to lead a balanced life, spending time with friends, cooking, hiking, mountain biking, and visiting family in Melbourne. Those that know him well knows he is also a bit of a film buff. He can be found at a BFT studio training most days.
